Mi recommendation is not to spend too much money on boxes, as you don't know what you are going to get. The best option is to search them on eBay... Try looking for something like "Star Wars Common Set", because there are guys who sell complete sets of common or uncommon minis as a whole...

OK, I'll finally have to create an account on EvilBay, then?

I fear that'll be the end of my financial sanity (if that expression is even valid??)..
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

My financial sanity broke the first day I started buying SW minis in there...  :D

Some more examples of the miniatures I am using.

Here are my chosen minis to represent Vincent Mano (Rogue) and TK-7 from the "Robin Hood of Regallus VII" scenario in FW. The droid is our well known protocol droid, and the man is a Corellian Pirate. It needs a repaint to become a good-looking hero:

And for the Jackson Strapp mercenary, there a lot of possibilities in the Fringe faction, like these. Not decided yet, although I like the grey alien.

Finally, I wanted to show one of the most inspiring (at least for me) miniatures in the SW range to be used in Fantastic World games: The Mustafarian Flea Rider... Pure Pulp!

I'd agree with the ebay route too.
You might pay slightly more for some pieces than you pay for one at random in a box, but you only get the ones you want.

Some of the D&D figures are very useful too. Latest releases include some nice hooded cultists and swarms of scarab beetles.

It's probably worth looking at the Wizards of the Coast site to see which figures might be useful. The only drawback is that the figures are different sizes and don't give an indication of how big they are. Some stuff you know is small, Star Wars ewoks or D&D halflings, but droids & monsters are sometimes a bit of a guess.

What's more: SW minis and D&D minis are not in the same scale.

V grateful iof you could let me know what the spider called in the Star Wars range.  Not been able to find it so far.

It is the Knobby White Spider or something like that. It is in the "The Force Unleashed" expansion but not yet on the Wizards Galleries. A "star wars white spider" search in eBay will give you a lot of items.

Thanks :)

Well, I just bought my first common set (force unleashed) on Ebay, awaiting the delivery  8)

Will have to buy some more - huge saving compared to buying boxes, as far as I can tell. Then there's the uncommon/rare/very rare minis, but I can always start looking for them when I have my basic forces fleshed out  :D

You can bet on that - 6 more common sets in the pocket (or almost)

Another thing of beauty arrived today from eBay. The so-called Junk-Golem, perfect as robot monster for Fantastic Worlds or as Metal Menace in a more conventional Pulp Environment. Again, Prof Evilsmann is shown for scale Purposes.

I just bought a bunch of Star wars stuff and they work great with other things.  Beware of Dreamblade figures they are huge and just dont fit with other figures.

Can you provide pictures of the 'human' sized minis for scale with 25mm and 28mm? I'm thinking some of these droids would be good for GoMC-1.

Thanks!
