Gladiators (*06.07.13 First Blood)
« on: October 21, 2011, 05:35:01 PM »
Don't know why, but there are already a few gladiator-themed topics floating around these days. Adding to the confusion, here's my take on the first of a few couples of gladiators from Crusader Miniatures (excellent range!).

Painted just for fun, they might appear in the odd game of Red Sand, Blue Sky. See more of them and a bit of background on my blog. Comments very welcome! :)

Fantastic brushwork there.  ;D

I have been looking at their range this week.  :D

Great looking figures.
Many years ago had a gladiator campaign with friends.
Thanks for reminder of the fun we had.

Okay, it's been a while since I last posted something on this project. However, if you followed the APC so far you may have seen the latest additions to my collection of gladiators (spot them in the gallery). This recent revival came about by the appearance of the "ludus in a tin" approach here on the board. That got me really excited and so I bought this…

… to turn it into this:

And here it is with a bit more action going on.

Nothing fancy I could add to the great advice available on the LAF already.
I must say, I'm happy with this first trial. And since these pieces are dirt cheap, I might even get a 2.0 done.
If you're after some additional blurp, visitors to our blog are always very welcome! :)

Brilliant MDM - I intend to use that Roman red ring around my arena as well. It will help with concealing the blood.  ;)

Is that true? It sounds plausible although I alway thought the Romans were a rather blood thirsty lot and would appreciate the sight of the blood on the walls.

I have no idea if there is any truth to that - talking straight from my arse.  :D

I have seen a lot of Roman models depicted with a red section of wall though - it certainly looks the part.
