Hi All,
Rackham are producing a new Scifi skirmish game ( release December) which looks pretty darn cool!
The initial release box-set looks awesome with ALL the Minis coming pre-painted and includes some VERY COOL Dreadnought type minis! :o
Have a look here under "AT43":
http://www.rackham.fr/

I've already pre-ordered a set!

Here's one of the minis included in the set:

The miniatures one can see on their website are the most uninteresting sci-fi miniatures I've ever seen.
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

After seeing the first previews I was really excited about this, but now I have the feeling it's just another boring Rackham game. And pre-painted minis, ewww :(

And what I couldn't find, how much is the set?
I was there the day that Horus fell.

Yeah, I am not entirely sure about this game. Although I am sure it will build a large following quickly, I am not sure I want to invest in yet another sci-fi game...  After collecting numerous 40k armies, I am not sure that this game or this company really has anything new to offer...

I am also not so sure about the Chinese labour used to paint the miniatures...  I mean those GW British productions are bad enough, I can only imagine what the Chinese conditions are like...

I'm not sure either about the actual rules ( I've got other rule sets if they are too bad) but the box set contains:
Rulebook, 19 pre painted Ava and Therian miniatures, dice, terrain, all cards required for play, tape measure and gaming mat.

The UK recommended price is £50.00 for the set.
I don't think it's that bad when you consider something like a 40k box set which costs more. A single GW dreadnought in the UK costs about £30.00, so the set seems pretty good just for the miniatures.

Hopefully there will be more information closer to release.

I dont like prepainted stuff. I am talking about this with Loki a couple of weeks now. He has a good argument. Its for the people who dont have time to paint and want to play with painted miniatures. Maybe the rules are good too. Who knows. For me, I have so many other things on mind right now. This one sounds not interesting enough to me to buy it.

I agree. I don't particularly like prepainted minis as I prefer to paint them myself. It is a good point that some people can't paint or don't have the time. This game is meant to be playable out of the box with minimum effort from the player.
Even though the minis are prepainted i will probably paint them myself!
I just think the game looks interesting and I quite like the "French" style minis ( I've got other Rackham miniatures)

I actually find myself very tempted by the box.  I love painting but I really don't mind playing with pre-painted miniatures.  One thing though, I love painting figures, but a bit less so mounts like horses, and a bit less so vehicles.  And so the mechs are one of the most attractive things for me in this set.

I won't be suprised if they can hold the producting models to this quality of painting because I have seen it before in Japanese products.  And if they can, its by far good enough for me.

And I just love that container box!

I was thinking a bit about pre-painted plastics, and as a person who in into miniatures mainly because I love to paint them, I thought its a bit odd that I like them!     Esp if they look cool!  I remember being giddy with excitment when I got my clear plastic heroclix!  (the human torch) I immediately pried it off the plastic attachment for its clix base and stuck them onto smaller ones and placed them next to my re-painted super-heroes in my display cabinet.

White Star Commando Patrol. I really like the sculpts, they're better than Mongoose Starship Troopers

Those are nice sculpts. Make me want to pick up some sci fi miniatures to go up against them.

I pre-ordered mine too!

I much prefer to paint, but I figure I can ALWAYS repaint them if I'd like.  Just like repainting a Heroclix!

I love the powered armours, which are SOOO SF3D, and the cute stumpie mech is a must-have, but only if they´ll become available singly and preferably unpainted...

Game system didn´t seem to be all the rage, from what I saw at Essen.

Just receieved my AT 43 box set.
First impressions............VERY GOOD!
The painting on the minis is at a reasonable table standard ( I've seen a lot worse). I will probably tweak them a little ( detailing) but they're ok out of the box.
I've had a quick scan of the rules, they look ok. Seem to be an aweful lot of stats on the stats cards and as this is the basic set the rules are pretty simple looking.
Still I can always use the minis for something else , which was my first idea anyway!
