Okay as a few might know i've written my own rule for Samurai era and whilst you can get scenary it would cost me an arm and a leg...So i decided to have a go myself...

Now i'll admit i'm not a dab hand when it comes to making anything beyond, walls or rubble...

Just got the roof to do and its then done..

You can piccies here of it and other bits i've done..

Looks very good indeed! I'm assuming foamcore body, with balsa woodwork & towelling for the roof?

If so, I think even I could build a village of those :)

Has anyone tried using that fake animal fur for thatched roofing, which you often see mentioned in the wargames mags? It looks very good, but I don't know how much potential for disaster there is in using it

Yep correct...

I have tried the Fake fur and its a nightmare...If you were to spray it with PVA/Water Mix i think you would be fine..

But everytime i've tried to brush the Glue on it ends up pulling the hair out and it starts to look untidy...

So i thought i'd try the towel method and it looks good..

Yes, that's just what I imagined might happen. If I try it, I can see myself wandering around looking like some werewolf extra from a cheap horror b-movie :(

I look forward to seeing the finished model  :)

Looks great! The thatch has a lovely "ancient" look to it - perfect for a "Seven Samurai" style village.
