happily post out photocopies of the Major and his mates to anyone who wants

one .......  rest of the battalion nearly finished! then off to Griffin to mould

three different soldiers including a corporal and a trumpeter.......so your

Wow - if I didnt know the title of the thread I would think I was seeing some pre-production artwork from the "Yellow Submarine" cartoon!  They certainly had some... interesting... uniforms back in the day.

indeed Gents ive read some of the mexican Imperial; troops fighting with the

French almost mutanied when handed lime green , and some purple unifroms....

sad  really at least the Guard lancers wore pink ( well carmine...or is that amaranthe?)

and by the standards of the day a grey sombero.

just discovered a unit dressed like polish lancers.may have to do these!!

I feel quite bad now, after slating a friend who wanted to paint Mexican VSF in purple and pink.
Told him to at least attempt to fit in with the period.
Doh!

i do believe it got worse then that........almost any  shade of dyed linen was

considered..( see Joseph Hefeters discovery of multiple coloured uniform plates

in Publeo state museum in 1964 . Maximillian

spent to much on his castles and replacing

sterling siver cutlery pinched by the poor impoverised Mexican staff!!

and maybe took his eye off the ball!!.......the "Carnival Empire" flourished

in Mexico.....you couldnt make it up!!   :o :) :o :)

Hi Ged,

So did you manage to have a look at the Hefner 'San Blas' book I gave you at SELWG? Just wanted to make sure you were able to access it okay.

Looking forward to seeing more of the 28mm Mex range...you might tempt me yet into adding yet another lead range! FYI, if this happens then I am not legally responsible for the wife tracking you down and killing you! lol
