Beefing up the Golden Compass Magisterium Carriage

I bought several of these cheap at a dollar store here, locally.  I already have Lee Scoresby's balloon and the Magisterium air ship, but this I'd like to use as a lightly armored vehicle, maybe a troop transport for a 15mm squad or two.

I could certainly paint some national flags on it, or stick one on a flag pole, but how would you arm it?

Also, any suggestions for a figure to use as a 15mm pilot?  It looks crazy-big for 15mm, but the seat is about the right size, and certainly too small for 25mm.

Thanks

I have just bought one of these and would like to see what others have done.
I have a few ideas but am not moving on to the VSF stuff just yet.
I have dozens of ideas, and a considerable pile of stuff to crack on with when I am ready.

What have you all done with yours, then?
 ;)

So far, nothing.  I got them REALLY cheap, so I bought half a dozen.  I was thinking of trying to keep the thing generic, and making some decals with various nation's flags that I could stick to the top and sides with sticky tack.  Other than that, I have some homemade electro-guns done up with plastic picture hangers and some plastic tubing that I was thinking of repainting in red and gold, and attaching to the chassis as twin guns.

I too have a number just lying around bought quite a few (but not as meny as the smal Airship diecast models as with those I could see how I could use them for 28mm). I wonder if I could break one up to perhaps see what the parts intail perhaps to increase the size of the Carriage.
gan canny kidder!

Scroll down the link below and you will see some photos of a paint job Bullshott has done on one, adapting it for his Prussian force:

Thanks, Malamute!

If you scroll down a few posts, Bullshott gives a few more useful tips on painting the contraption.

Yeah, 28mm does seem a better fit.  I was hoping I could kinda scale it (up?  down?) to look like a larger, lightly armed troop transport.

Did these just resurface? I'd bought a few, but as I'm feeling the 1/1200 Aeronef craze rising again, I wouldn't mind a few more monster digs, and I never DID get one of the larger Scorseby ships.

I don't think so.  They've kinda hung around here in the Big Lots chain.  I don't think I've seen them elsewhere.

Thanks, GB. That would explain it; my friends and moi kind of cleared out the local Big Lots.  lol
