Hummvee's
« on: December 03, 2007, 09:22:24 AM »
A damn good, and  useful vehicle that I have found hard to obtain in a scale suitable for 28mm-30mm.

However, following a visit to the London Toy Soldier show on 1st December, I found a company called Scarlet and Gold, who are specialising in the British Household Division in that scale. I have already plugged them on the Victorian threads as they do Victorian foot guards.

But they now produce a resin Hummvee standard vehicle and an ambulance version, with separate metal machine gun, and are casting up TOW as well. The kit comes in five pieces, body and four wheels. Cast quality is superb with no flash etc, certainly not on the two I bought. And once at home I found that they were perfect for 28mm-30mm. The price, well I was surprised, a reasonable £7.00. Additionally they produce Challenger tanks and British APCs, including Warriors, and an artillery piece with Landrovers, as well as some infantry in present day combat dress, and a Milan ATGW team. I thought these would prove ideal for modern gamers.

They are available painted but they will supply unpainted castings on request.

Website is at www.scarletandgold.co.uk
e-mail at nlr white@hotmail.co.uk
Enquiries to R White, Lansdowne, Cavenish Road, Church Crookham, Hampshire, GU52 6PZ

I did say I would plug them, and have no vested interest in the company. Hope this is of use to someone.
They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

£20.00 for a painted Warrior?
Oh joy! joy! joy! And £11.75 for a painted Scimitar? Oh my poor wallet  :D
(you have no idea how I hate painting vehicles)

Thanks for the heads up, very timely.

Not seen one up close so I don't know how they scale as they're nominally 25mm.

Thanks for the heads up Trooper, S&G have some lovely stuff there.  :)

I've had a reply to my email inquiry. postage on a Scimitar (painted) is £5.00 so I'm going to order one (by cheque no less) and see what it's like.

Edit: Amounts over 10 are at 20% off  :)

Ok the vehicles are perfect for 28-32mm, I put my two together in about 5 minutes, no cleaning up required they were so easy, literally body and four wheels. The casting were so crisp. They have now been primed and await paint. All for £7.00 each now I think thats a bargain.

Btw Matakishi I don't know if you saw ,my post on the Tea House, but regarding your Urban counter insurgency project, you mentioned on the Tea House getting Brittania, have you checked out Gripping Beast MoFo range. They do very nice rangers and Delta force and lovely Somali militia with some Cuban/Russian mercs. Their Falklands range is nice too and would make great UNIT troopers. Or Oman period SAS, armed with SLRS and Sterling smgs.

I've just sold some Mo-fo figures  :)
I had a look at every range before settling on Britannia for Somalia. I may end up getting some Falklands figures from them because they're the only people that seem to make them but , given the choice, I wouldn't because I find their figures too small to paint comfortably.
Thanks for mentioning them though  :)

I love the MOFO and Mongrel ranges  these are 1/56th but Paul has a lot of TAG figures and Britannia go with the vehicles which look closer to 1/48 or 1/50

Hi karl:)
Personally i feel that the TAG stuff works best with 1/56 aswell:)
Trooper, Think you could measure the hummvee?
I'm always on the lookout for more sources of vehicles but i'm a bit restrictive in how much the scales differ 8)
