Monolith / Totem W.I.P Update New Face
« on: 29 November 2011, 02:11:57 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I was a bit bored last night and decided to have ago at another Monolith / statue  :)

Its in honor of some Ancient Aquatic Amphibian God  :) that's been washed up by a storm on the beech or marsh / swamp.

Its still a work in progress, does it need lots more barnacle's wart's?

What do you think?

And a scale shot

Thanks
George

Nice job,

I don't know is it just me, but it looks like the creature is about to cry :). Is it suppose to be threatening?
What materials you use? is the pinkish sculpey? what about the terracotta ? milliputty?

Hi Thanks  :)

The creature was just supposed to look weird and strange. do you think it looks to cute?
The pinkish colour is  fimo classic polymer clay and the terracotta is cernit polymer clay. Its sculpted on top some spare balsa wood I had lying around.

I've still got a bit to do on it  :? Do you think its worth finishing?

Thanks
George

I doesn't really look menacing. That said: Definitely worth finishing. It looks great in its current state, love to see what it would look like with even more.

yes definitely finish it ! :) actually the expression is good because it's emotional. Statues don't always have to look evil and menacing: )

No Worries Commander  :) . I'm not to sure about it myself yet. Its been suggested that I change or remove the nose, what do you think?

I'm still going to finish it and see what it ends up like, its a good way to use up all the left over greenstuff instead of it drying out  :)

I little update, I've bulked out the flippers etc..

any good?

thanks
George

That is REALLY COOL...strange, but really cool nonetheless. He/she/it fits so nicely with the direction my own modeling/painting is going...VERY INSPIRING!

Definately fits with Deafala's brainscape that's a given ;) Just too much timothy Learny and not enough HP Lovecraft for me.

Hi,

I've changed the face  :o,

The clay has not been cooked yet so it is easily removed and put back to how it was before  :)

What do you think, an improvement?

Thanks
George

Aw, the Little Guy looks so sad...must have been someone he ate. I REALLY LOVE both versions; so I guess my opinion, as always, is of dubious value.

Thanks, Vyper. It's horror potential is assured if it fits so well in the strange & twisted lands of my imagination.

Hi to all,

I like both versions, though the first one kinda reminded me of that old King Crimson album cover (which is a good thing, by the way). The second one is, in my opinion, more "Froud-ish" (which is also good).

I wouldn't buy it because I have no use for it at the moment, but still, I think it's a great piece.

Yours truly,

Sir Dryden
