Corsairs of Umbar... from Mithril
« on: December 07, 2007, 07:49:16 AM »
It is good to know that Mithril is still producing LotR miniatures. They launch these fantastic corsairs of Umbar in January

Corsairs from Mithril

They are great for use in any historical or Pulp game... A must for a Broadsword Adventures session.

Remember that the Evil Empire is also releasing Corsairs soon. Info in this topic:

I've always been a great fan of Chris Tubb. I have a huge collection of painted and unpainted minis.

Other "non-character" Human sets appear to be 5.65 Euros for two, so approx 4.00 GBP. Not cheap, but compares reasonably to GW LOTR prices.

They are certainly lovely figures & tend to be how I imagined Middle Earth before the films came along. Except the Elves - I just can't take to those, for some reason.

I've picked up a few Mithrils from sales in a local shop & off ebay and they are great to paint.

It's a shame the characters are so expensive, though.

They've become collectibles to. The really rare ones will set you back $500-800 at Ebay. Crazy.

There is a Mithril Fellowship club which you can join. Every month you get to suggest and vote for a new miniature which Chris Tubb will sculpt and cast. They don't exactly come cheap but you get to bring forth miniatures like Queen Beruthiel and her cats, the Witchking in pre-nazgul form, Lossoth and a whole lot of other obscure characters from the LotR.
