Train for LOTOW
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:43:22 PM »
Following a discussion in the LOTOW Yahoo group about train set at scale for 25/28 mm. I found that one, looking very interesting and easy to convert for wargame purpose.

A put a Redoubt chinese from my chinese posse for the scale comparaison.

The main problem will be the railroad tracks. I have only 2 strays of railroad and all the rest are curved one.

Those are so nice but oh so hard (or expensive) to get a hold of,!!

For extra track, have you considered getting I-beams from plastruct/evergreen, they should have a size that fits your wheels and balsa for the woodparts (can't remember what they're called), should be sturdy if you base it:)

i have seen 4 models of this kind of train set (in the same range). Some too late for the LOTOW period but ideal for Pulp or europe theater.
The set have sound and light function too.
a good deal for something like 15.00 euros !

I got a great set for $24 at Toys R Us its by fast line(i'll post a picture if I can find one) Engine, coal car, 2 Passenger cars,Cattle car. and a cabose. Non useful train station and a track lay out.  Very nice detail and bit beter than the one shown here (althought this is good too.)

I got one off our local version of ebay here i New Zealand and it only cost me $10NZ. The carriages are the same but your engine is better suited to wild west than mine, but $10 I wasn't complaining.

Heh... The stickers on the locomotive and the wagons are sort of funny. "Spirit of Steam"; that one sounds like a chinoism. A chicken lauraete, that's a wee bit of a hoot to.

So, has anyone painted one of these puppies up?

Thinking about painting mine, but curious if I'd just be better off leaving it as is.

Thats a great site I tried to convert the gangsters rtules into English with Babel fish and struggled a little. It is however a great resource for LOTOW. I have this train and one day will paint it...one day...lol

Any more on the shelf?  They don't seem to have them here in Wisconsin.  I'll be glad to work out a deal. :)  PM me if possible.

OK, I got this one tonite from Toys R us for $15.  It is the exact same engine and feeder car.  The others aren't as cool, but 2 are serviacable, and the crane one can be converted into a flatbed for something more westernish.

Congrats on the find!

Tonight I stripped the stickers and primed mine. I hope to get it (and some buildings) painted up during the break.
