HELP!!!!! 1970'S COPS AND ROBBERS: AMERICAN VERSION
« on: December 13, 2007, 11:57:17 PM »
Hi guys,
For our American cousins out there I was looking for some advice re:the upcoming U.S. version of Geezers! "Shut it!. :?

Essentially, what are your fond memories of the 1970's? I just need items, trends etc. Types of candy you could get back then and toys from your childhood.

In the UK things like Spangles and Space Hoppers evoke 1970's memories as do chopper bicycles.

Well I've got that covered in the UK version, I need American 70's stereotypical bric-a-brac

Thanks in advance.
"Morning!"

Mood rings. CB radios. the bicentennial. Star Wars. pyramid power. 'In Search of'. Slushies.

I'll think of more.

Of fond memories I have none, but the things that trigger cringing flashbacks to the era of bad taste include Trans Ams, bell bottoms, disaster movies, bushy mustaches and Tab.

A good few season's of 'That 70's show' should be reference enough for all friend. ;)

I've you've marvel or dc comics knocking around from then they'll be a good reference too.

Professional wrestling. Big rigs, the Dukes of Hazzard, Starland Vocal Band, pet rocks, Disco, polyester, leisure suits, Cher when she looked like an American Indian, the "Energy Crisis." American-made gas-guzzling cars. Bob Newhart's first TV series. Match Game. Tony Orlando and Dawn. Pop Rocks. The Electric Company on public television, starring Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman. Dirty Harry Callahan. The Pope visiting the U.S. The Cold War.

OK, that's all I can wring from my feeble memory. Basically had to try and recall anything I could remember from my childhood before MTV started. (I turned 12 in 1980, so it's a convenient milestone.) Good luck!

Thank you compeneros, keep em coming. When I'm translating my Geezer rules to American slang it just seems to sound very pulpy as opposed to 70's.

I've never heard of ....In Search of. But the rest I have.

I myself was only 7 years old when the 70's ended. So my memories are essentially Star Wars,Star Wars, more Star Wars and Starsky and Hutch.

I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch the Sweeney.   (It featured the unclothed top halves of ladies!!!!! :o

Having recently watched every Sweeney episode I can tell you that there are three tit shots (and very quick they are too) in the entire run of four seasons.

Imagine my disappointment
