the "wooden pattern" is due to the low quality of the best Shapeways quality (i'm not THAT satisfied about it), but it will disappear when painted, i guess. the details are anyway amazing. The tubes, the rivets, the windows!

(consider that the bigger house is 8mm tall!)

Also this houses i made, those are simply great! =( so bad for the patterns again, but still they are great! :)

in love with that little little things!

tried (on the same boat, two sides) two different schemes.
Any suggestion now? =)

FIRST: aged plain copper (or metal anyway), like the Liberty Statue of New York. Considering that those are colonial ships, in a quite wild environment, that's a nice choice.

SECOND: More "barracuda" pattern, easy and fast to paint, more warfare like! :)

Thanks mates!

Those both look nice, but the first shows off the model better: the second does its job as camouflage and hides the shape and detail.

ditto! I would add a darker layer on the lower part to give some deepness more. You could add the name of the boat too if you dare... :D

do you mean something like a floating line? i was thinking to add it to the next experiments. For now those are just experiments, i'll make new cannons (with better barrel holes) and some lifeboats for the sides.

MOAR DETAILS! ;)

I'm a big fan of dazzle camo which oft comes across as stripes, but this one just doesn't sit as well as the 'grey' with me. I think the name looks good, though I'm no judge of 'period' markings.

Impressively fun stuff!

Wow, it looks great. How did you get the name so tiny?

The only thing I think I might have done differently would be to paint the floatline a sky blue or something to help protect it from groundfire from below.

Well done, sir!

I'd go with another color for the bottom. It's red in ocean going ships because that is the natural color of the anti-fouling paint.
