What's the consensus on this game?
Anyone actually have it?

I understand it's based on the Warmaster system (which is awesome) and that it's self-contained in one box.

If that's the case, where's the rules for the giant, trolls, Smaug, etc that I see on the GW site.  Also, it looks like Copplestone makes minis for it as well. Are these simply stand swaps with no extra rules?

Thanks!

I think - but could be wrong - that the rulebook in the box includes rules for all the other stuff which has no models in the box itself too.

I have it too.
Havent played it yet, although the guys here in Kiel want to someday....

The Box is awesome. The plastic hills are great, you also get some ruins. The miniatures inside are plenty. And the sculpts are nice.

You base them the same way as in Warmaster.

If you have a chance and get it on ebay you should pick one.

I have wondered for a long time if it is possible to scale this game up for 28mm. I am sure I have all the miniatures needed in that scale.

Is it anyting like Warmaster?

So, apparently it was just announced that The Hobbit will be made as a two-part film with PJ producing.

i wonder if GW will make more copies available or at least make it a downloadable PDF like the rest of the specialist game line.

It is the same system, but has alternate stats and theme-fitting creatures added. One could easily adapt the armies not included in the rulebook from existing Warmaster armies.

By the way: Eureka make some very nice 10mm Hobbits and absolutely brilliant Oliphaunts, how great is that?

The box and all of the blisters were available at bargain prices over here, if You stumble across one that is cheap, it is a must-have. This is the only game I know of which has a box that is filled with more plastic than the first edition Heroquest!!!
