A couple of steampunk sculpts (Dental Practitioners now ready)
« on: January 18, 2012, 11:37:05 PM »
Here's a look at some steampunk sculpts I've been owrking on over the past week.
The first one: I wanted to make a kooky doctor that looked a bit morbid and odd but I thought. "Hmmm... that's a pretty common theme." So, how could I do something a bit difference? So I came up with the idea of a Steampunk Dentist.

The next guy was an idea suggested to me by one of my customers. He is... Well the figure will be named Lord Herbert Shogoth-Smythe. I think the name says it all. Not the best pics but hey... They're just a quick peek.

There is nurse on the workbench to go with the doc and octo-head will have a grusome little pet to keep him company.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I like them, very clean sculpts!
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Lord Herbert does show the benefits of, ahem, socializing with Old Ones can have to humanity. Very nice. The dentist is good too so I'm looking forward to seeing the nurse and the pet.

Thanks for the kind replies.

I've made some adjustments to Lord Herbert... Removed the fez and replaced it with a topper. The fez just didn't fit right on his big bulbous head. Also tidied up the tentacle holding his spectacles and reenforced it with a brass wire core.
Will post a new pic soon.

Hmmm... Now there's an idea that looks like it could be expanded upon.

He he. There are lots of c.1900 old cartoons with maps of Europa where Russia has a bear head, the UK a lion (or a dog) head, Turkey looks like a turkey, etc.

Greetings all,

Here is an updated pic of the Lord Herbert sculpt. I cheated with the hat by cutting one off an older figure (many of my figures seem to have top hats!) and plonking it on his head. He also has a nice carpet base insert. Could look good if you have the urge to paint a Persian carpet.

And here is Nursie (Nurse Rictus, will be her name). She has a beautiful smile full of "British Teeth". She and the Dentist above go together as a set when they're cast. The bottle is supposed to be aether (could be spirits of laudnum I suppose!)  :D

And a close up of that big smile. The pics don't really capture it; but her face looks like a demented Christopher Walken in drag.
