Aggro84's Gothic Horror Thread
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:45:52 PM »
Just joined the forum today after lurking for a few years.
I thought I'd start a Gothic Horror thread.

First up, some Westwind /Old Glory blood suckers.

Fine looking figures.
Westwind has some interesting figures.
What rules are you plannng to use?
Look forward to seeing more.

I used to use slightly modified Chaos in Carpathia rules.
Lately, I've been helping a buddy write up his own set of multi-genre/ universal rules so we've been playtesting them a lot.

Personally, I think Chaos in Carpathia is your best bet.

I am waiting to take a look at Empire of the Dead though.

Thanks for the kind words!
Blacks are something that's really challenging, I'm glad you liked them.

Since that went over pretty well  :)

Some Werewolves also from Westwind / Old Glory.

And the pack leader. Damn mold lines on fur!

Welcome to the forum!

Very nicely painted minis you got there. I don't do 28mm myself, but those pics gave me some inspiration to start my 15mm Gothic project....(like I have time for that :P )

I'm pleased others' praise made you go on. The vamps are beyond my wildest dreams of accomplishment, but the puppies REALLY got me to speak up.

Well done, indeed!

Very well done painting ( I wish mine was that good - I quit trying to highlight and shade a long time ago because of lack of skill.)

Now I do have a quibble with the sculpts themselves - specifically the canines in  certain (#3 and #5 werewolves) ones.  Excessive, almost to the point of parody.

Gracias,

Glenn

BEAUTIFUL models!  :-*

I like your painting style. Thanks for sharing your work.

About rules...

I do own CinCarpathia, but don't seem to fully fill my needs.

Any chances you can give us more information about your and your friend's home rules?

Thank you and best wishes.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Thanks for the kind words.
I'm happy to actually be adding to the community instead of just lurking here.

Relic- I think Blue Moon has that 15mm Gothic Miniature line. You won't regret it.  Gothic Horror games are pretty fun. :)

Malamute- Thank you. Your stuff really inspired me to venture into this genre.

The Beast and Conquistador- Probably the easiest thing I do to help along the painting process is Prime in Black and then dry brush white before I start laying down any color. This method really helps me a lot.

Conquistador- Yes, some of the sculpts are pretty silly. I still enjoy them though  and they were fun to paint. I also realize they are probably not every ones cup of tea.  :)

Magokiron- I'm not sure what you didn't like about Chaos in Carpathia, but I rarely play a game without making a few changes. Some members here have posted some really nice add-ons for the game as well.
I've heard good things about Fear and Faith, but I'm one of the few people that didn't care for Song of Blades and Heroes which Fear and Faith is based on. I'll also talk to my friend about posting his rules.

In the mean time a few Good Guys (and girls). All Westwind/ Old Glory as well.

Hope you all like them.

Yep, how Vyper said, you need the pupils. Apart from that a very good painting job on them.
