Tile Roofs: Help Request
« on: December 23, 2007, 11:06:01 PM »
I am working on some Spanish buildings for a Peninsular War skirmish game and I've run into a stumbling block with the roofs. There are three ways I know to make tile roofs; plasticard tile sheets (I'm too cheap to buy these), corrugated paper (I can't find any anwhere in my town) and corduroy cloth (I can't find any of that either). Since I can't use any of those three options does anyone have any other ideas on making some tile roofs?

Thanks.

One option is drinking straws cut in half, the bigger the diameter the better and free from MCDonalds etc :D

Or packing cardboard which in the UK you get from Greengrocers

I'll suggest taking ordinary boxes and splitting the top layer of cardboard off- the corrugated stuff makes up the middle.

Think corduroy is very good if you can get it ,did some Mexican houses with an old pair of trousers I had . Have you tryed fabric shops or online craft sites or even charity shops - they might have an old cord jacket or somthing going cheap , good luck with your search!

Option 4.
Tell us where you are and see if one of us can post you a small pack of corrugated card or corduroy.
I'm in North Yorkshire (UK) and we have plenty of carboard here. We might have corduroy too.

Wooden skewers from barbecue packs sold in most supermarkets etc. Very cheap & you get various sizes. Great for pantiled roofs [with some watered down filler washed over for a more "tiley" look], log cabins, wooden stockades etc.

mind you, this may not be the best time of year for barbie supplies......
