Venusian Amazons: Archer Unit Photo
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:02:53 PM »
I completed my first unit of Venusian Amazons this week. I decided to add an Amazon faction to my Venusian world after the release of Wargames Factory's plastic Amazons set offered a cheap way to build such units. As the old saying goes, "Women are from Venus," so I thought a race of Amazons on that planet would be ideal. They will represent an ancient civilization that is on the decline ever since the wild Venusian parrotmen developed guns. Hopefully they will befriend the newly arrived French, and a strong alliance will develop.

Nice concept and well carried out, but the shield device screams "Space Marines" so loud...

Were you in the southeast USA, I'd totally throw my Cytherians against your Venusians for mastery of the planet.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

Cool idea and the models look great.
Reminds me of the old "Lost Civilization" movies.

I have to ask though,
Did you have any problems with the arm articulations?

Lovely, might even get some myself.  Agree about the shield designs though - much too GW!

Very nice idea and cleanly executed!  :)
Bujt I too have to agree that the Dark Angel shield transfer is not really fittinmg, maybe modify it a bit?
Otherwise, great job!
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Dark Angels?  Not  a GW fan (to put it mildly, never bought anything GW outside of lizardmen for Venusian VSF on Ebay and never plan to buy anything from GW directly,) but that descriptor sounds perfect for death dealing Venusian Amazons.

No change needed!

Gracias,

Glenn

Very nice.

There are actually quite a few "lost civilizations" on Venus, but due to its' immense jungles very few, except the most aggressive, have yet to be discovered.

Very nice, I might have to steal that idea from you ;) Whats your verdict on the quality of the miniatures? I've seen some quite bad reviews of them that's been putting me off buying them this far.

I'd like to second Infelix's request for info on quality and how you found it to model them.

I'll come clean and say I was one of Wargames Factory's champions, and participated in a good many of their discussions (in fact, it was hanging around the WF forums that led me here, to be truthful, after I saw a discussion about 1920s figures labelled as 'Back of Beyond' and I googled the term... which led me to the Professor's pages). One (in fact two) of those were about male and female 'Atlanteans' - in the female case, also known as 'Amazons'. When these Amazons came out I was pretty disappointed, as we were talking about a mixed Old World/New World feel - kinda Ancient Greece meets Inca, or Ancient Egyptian meets Aztec. But what we got were pretty firmly 'fantasy Greek' - which isn't a problem, just not what I was after (don't know if Sir Barnaby Hammond-Rye, another main motivator, was pleased or not).

Anyway, I suppose all that means, these look better than I thought they would, how did you find working with them?
