I've been reading "The Sack of Panama" by Peter Earle. It's about Henry Morgan and the battles in the Caribbean from 1666 through 1671.  I found it at the local library.  It's a fantastic read!  The author balances pirate bragging with Spanish sources to come up with a great historical account.  I'm almost half way through it, having read about the taking and retaking of Providence (aka Santa Catalina Island), the sacking of Portobello and Maricaibo, and the dramatic escape of Morgan and company from Lake Maicaibo.  I totally recommend this book. 8)

Thanks for the tip!  Just found a copy on ebay.  I have the book Pirate Wars by the same author.

This is one of my favorite books on the subject!  The amount of detail and the balanced perspective, as you say, make it one of the best sources on Piracy/Privateering that I have found.
