Castlecraft castles
« on: March 06, 2012, 03:39:09 PM »
Does anyone have one of the Castlecraft castles. The Castle of Crusaders and the Castle of Fantasy look good, but I'd like to know more before I spend $50

I've never actually heard of Castle Craft so I'd be very interested in hearing more about them too. Perhaps someone on the forum has a pic or two they could post?

Darrell.

Thanks for the link.

I guess that the little bits and bobs would be very usefull anyway. I'm talking windows, doors chimney etc.

Do they have a UK supplier?

Darrell.

I haven't tried to combine them yet, but from memory they are rather different.

I own a Simba castle. I bought it cheap (18 Euro) and it was an easy repaint. Great value for money.  It matches perfectly with 28 mm miniatures. I have no experience with castlecraft though.

How thick do the walls turn out to be? Are they thick enough to be compatible with 25-28mm?

That is a though question to answer. Originally the walls are only detailed on one side. so what is did was gluing to sections of wall onto each other with a peace of plasticard as a spacer. Now they are thick enough for instance to pu evil empire High Elves on top of the walls. I hope you understand what I mean  ::) It was a fairly easy job. For the people in the Netherlands, I bought it at a store called de Blokker and they still sell it on occasion. Again great value for money. I will take some pictures this week and post them. Oh and you get a mansion with the deal also.

Yeah, that's what I think needs to be done to a lot of plastic castles/buildings that aren't specifically catering for the historical wargames market (although the GW Mighty Fortess does deal with this well- I just don't like the model  :)).

Lookinf forward to seeing the pics.

Darrell.

Which is very nice and only requires minimal work to get it to look great.

Here's mine (with addition of some plastic GW bits, new flagpoles and scratchbuilt doors):

Pictures from the Simba Castle

I primed it al with a black spray and than it was just drybrushed. The conversion work and painting took just a few hours.
