For a Mordheim experience you can always download Coreheim instead:

Glad you like it!  To be honest I've been mostly inactive in terms of gaming and painting for a number of years but still take an interest.  In the past I have enjoyed Mordheim and I know enough about Coreheim to know that it's a more thoroughly tested and thought through version of Mordheim.  Actually it's quite well known so I can't take much credit here.

Personally, I'd go with a D&D style. (Old school since '79) GP = 1 xp,
Graduated scale for  advancement, say 1200 2nd lvl; 2400 2nd, 3600 3rd, etc (for the fighter, steeper scale for mage and elf) and improving skills/abilities, eg., higher attack dice, body points, more spells, etc. Easy Peasy!
Quality has a quantity of its own
