Conquest of Auvergne / 1210-1213 ( AAR ) *updated*
« on: March 26, 2012, 07:39:01 PM »
Here  are several after action report of games played during the french show Petites Guerres 2012 near Paris. The campaign was the conquest of the county of Auvergne by the king of France, Philippe Augustus in 1210-1213. In 1210, count Guy d'Auvergne plundered the Abbaye of Mozac near Riom and captured his own brother, Robert, Bishop of Clermont (who prefered the king of France). Philippe Augustus took the opportunity to send an army to Auvergne and free the bishop.

The royal army was under command of two loyal subjects of Philippe, Guy de Dampierre, Lord of Bourbon (just north of Auvergne) and Lambert Cadoc, a mercenary captain who have been hired by the king for a long time.

The last supplies train : The french vanguard has to stop a last supplies train before it reaches the castle.

Sortie – burn the war machines : the Auvergne's force launches a sortie at dawn to burn the siege engines that have been built by the french troops.

Once more up to the breach : The french forces have breached a wall and they are ready to assault the castle.

It is a modification to Legends of the Old West. The first part covering skirmishes should be in the next issue of the french magazine Vae Victis. A second part covering Siege is scheduled.

It worked well with Cry Havoc rules (easily converted to a no-hexes version).

Fancy some Swedish-Danish skirmishes at the same time?  ;)

Hi Oliver

Greate assault AAR !

Swedish-Danish skirmishes are absolutely on my project list...might put it a little erlier then my Kalmar Union Project as that are beinbg made by a nother group of gamers here in Stockholm, http://northern-wargaming.blogspot.se/search/label/15th%20century.

I was fancy some barded horses and "real" knights in the same era as you, like the fighting between the sons of Birger Jarl, Valdemar and his younger brother Magnus and the Battle of Hova in June 14, 1275.

legend of old west and LotR are realy nice rules, used them my sefl for some Viking skirmish before SAGA... Would it be possible to get you rules modification i english??? to to god in French.

Keep up the good work Oliver it is realy interesting to follow.

Best regards Dalauppror

Excellent! Is there an English language edition of the magazine? I've admired your AARs for a while now and would be keen to try out your modified LotOW rules.

There is no english version of the magazine unfortunately (far too many existing ones in english). Nevertheless I wish to do something special for Wargames Soldiers & Strategy on the same subject (early XIIIe century) but I do not know yet what it would be.

I think there are many of us who would like to see an English translation of your rules variant for this period. The small number of figures used and your excellent figures and scenarios have us drooling! :P

Really nice figures and scenery you have there. The yellow/red colour scheme works particularly well.

Cry Havoc - hmm, I think I have those rules up in the loft somewhere - time to dig them out I think.
