28mm Griiping Beast timurids as seljuk ghulams
« on: April 01, 2012, 07:30:43 AM »
Do you think that the GB 28mm Timurid heavy/medium cavalry would make a good proxy for Seljuk Ghulams form the 2nd/3rd Crusades?

Wouldnt have thought so, too heavily armoured Id imagine, the horses especially. For ghulams I think most horses would be unarmoured with some cloth/leather barding around - they might do as Aghulani (I think!). You could probably use them as kwarizmians for the 13th century if you like the figures.

Are the gorgeous Musketeer ones any good for this period?

Oh Yes! The Perrys do some crackers as well. Im sure I read online that musketeer have released ghulams on unbarded horses but no pics on the site and listed as not available yet. Whats there is all gorgeous though.

GB do their own Seljuk Ghulams in their Armies of Islam range:

For Musketeer, the Turkish Ghulam pack is the only one in the range still awaiting release :-(. The command pack is available.

Plus there are the Perrys:
