I was thinking about the same game mechanics but the trust/suspicion is the hardest part unless may be you use specific gaming cards.

Have you read the free boardgame/cardgame rules or will you use something else ?
I was thinking about tokens for the trust/suspicion bit, Trust tokens earned by killing things, providing ammo or better weapons, using/giving first aid kits on/to followers.
Suspicion tokens are gained by being alone out of line of sight for a turn, fighting a thing in close combat, forcing cooperation from followers (followers with trust equal to or lower than suspicion won't always do what the player wants, but can be forced). Firing into closecombat. Taking their weapons, killing a follower out of combat if he is not a thing (because you think he is infected/about to turn).
Removing suspicionby taking actions that gives trust above max value. Remove all suspicion tokens by performing a blood test to show there is no infection.

Fear is gained by encountering things, entering frightening environs, and high suspicion towards allies. If fear reaches thresholds test courage to se if the follower snaps. If a follower freaks out he might be sick for a round, run away, fire his weapion wildly or commit suicide depending on how badly he snaps.
Removing fear by weapons and ammo spending a round in relatively safe environment, adrenalin shots, etc.
This is based on the fear trust system from The Thing computer game. I was thinking perhaps thre fear thresholds with more and more severe penalties to a freak out roll.

Please feel fre to help out with ideas etc, this is still very much a work in progress.

Really nice project!

The miniatures are disturbing and gross in the best possible way.  :-*

You have a PM mate, you mind need to put a spoiler alert on that map as I'm only getting round to watching the prequel tonight all being well and as I was scrolling through I thought...better not look at that too closely. ;) (Map covers JC's and prequel correct?).

Cheers

The Commander
The maps are a few years old at least, so they cover mainly the JC version. Indirectly as the 2011 is a prequel they might be a spoiler for that as well. I added a spoiler warning though as I do not want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of any of the films. :)

Cheers

Cheers,

Just watched it on DVD. The good bit is that as it's on DVD you can subtitle the Norwegian reserach team when their speaking in their native tongue and get the extra dialogue, (not sure if that was automatic in the cinema).

Liked the nod to Carpenter re-soundtrack. Film not bad, ish ;) Enjoyed the end titles segway too, really good and good lead in to The Thing (again).

Have a few ideas myself now, (curses!) They will resist and turn any potential thing thing into Halo flood infected.

Now where are my nid bits.... ;)

This might help mate:

http://thething.wikia.com/wiki/Helicopter

At least give you some better images. The callsign of the large chopper in the prequel was sea king, (so maybe it was one?) Not up on my helos these days.

For the Norwegian one I know it's something common like a Bell Jet Ranger but can't think for the life of me, possibly a 206 or 400 range.

Have to say some really good references for creatures here too, have a wander and see what you can find, just don't go alone and check those fillings! ;)

Great project. I guess you have all the figures you need but Regiment Games has some nice Arctic types in their Ice Station Zebra range.

Any unpainted shots? Difficult to tell the quality of the sculpts with those paint jobs (sorry bit thick and cartoony for me).
