HAlf timbered Normandy building 28 mm
« on: April 06, 2012, 10:03:00 PM »
Hello, this is the piece that I´m working now. I have done it with a structure of plywood covered with a frame of beams, that are done also with plywood cut freehand, without rule, this give a irregular beams as you can see in the real houses.

Spaces among beams are filled with cork.

The irregular stones are a mix of pleebes, cork dust, talcum powder and white glue. This is under construction now and will be reproduced  as kit in some  moment in the future

Very not bad at all!  I like all of the natural textures.

Very nice work - how are you going to tackle the roof?

Hello all, thank you for your nice words.I have seen here true artists making buildings  :)
About the roof I will make it with flat tiles with a a very thin wood.

Carlos,

When you say "the first layer of a plywood plate", do you mean one of the layers that make up the plywood, separated from the others?

Lovely work as usual, by the way! I like you point about freehand cutting the wood. I live near York and there are plenty of very old timber-framed buildings to look at and the wood is VERY uneven.

Cheers again,

M

Hi Mitch,
yes I mean this, the superior layer is  a very fine, flat surface that must permit press the name, mark, publicity  etc of the fruit productor, and the reverse side have the rougth surface, thus you have from the same piece of wood two textures, one for fine works as tiles and another for rougth surfaces as structure for half timber houses.
cheers
