A really hard match to vote... AGAIN!  :D

How is one supposed to choose just ONE of the entries?

Anyhow what decided my vote this round was the incredible blonde hair of the young witch.

D@rth J@ymZ can you explain how you did it? It's GORGEOUS!

Thanks to both for such beautiful paint jobs.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Really striking entries by both painters. I agree, these romans are among the best the Prof has shown, they're fantastic.

Agreed here too. The shimmering quality of the blonde witch is amazing. I love this eclectic group.

The witches are good and the human faced rats are fantastic. Great scene.

Prof, you have one incredible collection of Roman citizenry.  Your shading and blends are perfect.

Thanks all!  Sorry for the lateness of the reply; I was on assignment in the Outer Rim territories... ;)

The shimmering dress on the blond witch was built up using a fine sparkle medium mixed with white to achieve the right balance of colour with the sparkle effect.  I got the idea from Dr. Chimpula's Round 10 entry in last season's LPL (The Last Unicorn) and had experimented with it on several Lurker models in the Strange Aeons board.   Overall, I like the effect, as long as it is used sparingly.

The hair is my usual blond hair recipe (Vallejo Desert Yellow, built up with successive highlights with increasing amounts of white) but with some silver added to give it a shimmer that was distinct from the dress in both colour and effect.  I wanted her to look almost ethereal as if her beauty is a kind of magical spell. I'm rather pleased myself with how it turned out.  :)

The cauldron actually uses glow-in-the-dark paint as well - I was trying lots of new techniques.  It required several layers over a white base but has a great sickly green shade.

Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

On a not entirely unrelated side note the little rat monster on it's haunches has my face...only slightly more handsome than I am in person.
Also, great entry!

The Witches, Familiars (human-faced rats) and cauldron are from a couple of upcoming releases ;) and the Henchman is from the Madmen pack.  The two captive agents are exclusive models from UM's Cult of the Black Goat.  There are some rat swarms in there too...

Exclusives? Ah, crap.  Well, there goes adding those to my collection of hostages.

D@rth J@ymZ Thanks for the hair color explanation.

The silver addition certainly makes a BIG difference.

I'll try that very soon.

All the best.
