New steampunk/VSF rules from Osprey

In case you missed it on TMP, we announced our forthcoming VSF/Steampunk (I'm not even going to get involved in distinguishing between the two!) ruleset for Osprey Wargames:

Before anyone asks (as has happened on the TMP boards), the reason for the advance advance notice is due to our distributors and some major stockists requiring product information waaay in advance. It's a toss-up between not saying anything (and leaving lots of questions from people who discover it on Amazon etc.) and putting out some real information really early!

Ummm... I have no idea! I'm not on the marketing side of things, so I'm never 100% sure what's going to be done or when. What I can pretty much guarantee are some proper previews of the artwork (I'll stick something on here at some point, even if nothing 'official' is being done with them!), and, I hope, some more rules-related material (sample game turns, faction previews etc.).

While we are a ways off, and there's only so much material I have at my disposal right now, if there is something specific you'd like to see, just let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

I have the honour of being one of the authors of these (hopefully) splendid rules.  Along with Sir Philip I shall be feeding you titbits over the coming months so that you become enamoured of our little foray into the milieu of Science-Romance.

Milord Varangian, no playtests have yet been scheduled, but expressing interest here may get you a place if and when we decide to go ahead with such simulations.

You should all feel free to ask questions of us, but please do not be dismayed if there are some subjects to which we are unable to answer.

Now if you will please excuse me it is time to give my co-author his evening tonic. We cannot have him transmogrifying in the midst of the creative process...

Good to hear we get fed tidbits, it'll keep the waistline down, what?

I do have a question on balance vs fig count. I believe the blurb says 4-15 figures a side, is this geared at similar numbers per side, so a quick game is 4-5 figs each and a longer game is 12-15 figs each? Or is it 'power level' (for want of a better term) based, so you could have 4-5 'investigators' with great equipment and powers facing off against an Evil Villain and his 14 mooks?

Both ways have their advantages, although I'd prefer the flexibility of the second.
