Some pics of my growing Norman warband for SAGA. It was a quite quick paintjob (at least for me) with about 20 hours for the 16 spearmen, the 2 casualties and the bases. I hope you like it anyway  :D

Normans + shields are by Crusader Miniatures, Casualties by Warlordgames (Celtic Casualties), roundshields, spears and other equipment by Wargames Factory.

C&C as welcome as always  8)

A grand start there, I particulary like the idea of  using casualty figures to break up the movement base.

Lovely!
 :-*

Looks perfect for a good representation of a confused melee.

I particularly like the way that the bases are aligned so that the figures are not in regular 'ranks'.
Where did you get them?

They are selfmade  :D.
Quite simple although:
I just used the GW WHFB movement trays and a step drill. First I trimmed the trays the size I needed (2 per 1 base). Then I marked the positions of the miniature bases and used the drill to create the holes 26mm wide. At least I glued the two pieces together.
Hope this helps. If needed I'll take some pics while doing the next.

Nice!  Excellent figures and great work on the bases.
Just one question, how did you paint the wood? I'm searching for a new technique and paint to use and i like the look of your's.
Thanks in advance

Beautiful painting! Those Crusader minis are a painter's dream, simple details, not too much "stuff", quick to paint and  :-* :-*.

Lovely clean work - I agree with all the comments about Crusader, although your painting seems to show the quality far better than mine lol

I like the self-made movement trays - they aren't difficult to do, and making them yourself means you get more spare money to spend on other stuff!
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

Just one question, how did you paint the wood? I'm searching for a new technique and paint to use and i like the look of your's. It's quite simple. I just painted the wood in "Spearshaft Light 13C" by Foundry and gave it a single wash with devlan mud, followed up by a layer of ogryn flesh. After evrything was dry I finally gave a wash with the heavily thinned basecolour.
