Excellent paintjob! Love those cherry reds, too.

Still got my cherry reds. Bought them in Leeds in the early 90s. The 14-hole sort that go halfway up your leg and take all day to lace up.  :)

Still got mine, too. Mine are those 10-eyelet without steelcap. I think they were called 'Astronauts' back in the early days then.

Strange how memories were stirred up by a nicely painted miniature...

Heck, no, that would be 'kemm izzommli *** ***** *******?'
Hey, fancy that, censored Maltese  :P
The visible bit is 'How much'.
And that still is a great model :)

Grrr, you pesky foreigners! Why won't you teach us to be rude in your languages?

I had a Sikh friend, and he refused to teach me Punjabi swearwords, because he knew I'd use them in the corner shop. Smart fellow.

Oi, great great great great grandaddy was a Brit, y'know? Not too sure whether he came from south or north of the border, though. Ah hang on, certainly not Welsh. Ok, I'm a furrinner (barrani, in the local gab).

All right then - a very genteel spot of rudeness: Mur hu bela kafe'.
It would pass ANY form of censorship, and simply means 'go and have a cup of coffee'. Literally. But you can also use it to tell someone to, er, go away. It's the very mild level of rudeness which would be used in a faculty board meeting at University without breaking any ethic code .... more or less.

By the way, Orctrader (furiously but honestly veering back on topic) - grand job on the stubble -  and the base is grand. I like half and half bases with variations in the groundwork.

He he he! I was in the army for 9 years, with 2 of them in Berlin, so inevitably picked up a few German [ and pidgin-German] swear words

I second the request for a quick description of the leather coat painting technique - lovely work

Leather coat technigue?

OK  :)

Forgive me in advance if I get the paint names wrong - you'll know what I mean.  I go by colour rather than name.

The figure is primed black.  I paint with quite thinned paint, building each  colour in two or more thin layers.

Painting from dark to light:-
VGC Charred Brown mixed with Rackham black.
The black as a "targeted" wash.  That is very thin paint "placed" in the deepest recesses of the coat.
The Charred brown alone.
First highlight with VGC Beasty Brown
Second highlight with VMC Cork Brown
Final highlight with VMC Cork Brown and a little Ivory mixed in.

Hope this helps  :)

Great, thanks!

I'm going to try that on a couple of characters who need a better than usual paint job  :)
