Adventures in Gumba! (with a ruthless slaver on page 3)
« on: May 20, 2012, 07:54:50 PM »
Hello everyone,

well, our gaming group decided to get a bit more serious with our pulp-y African campaign. For that reason we've now set up a blog for our Adventures in Gumba.

Gumba is a fictitious part of East Africa that harbours a growing British force, who have decided to establish a colony there. Based in the port of Mbambo, they are unaware yet of a growing Gumbanese freedom movement, the invading warriors of the Goa-Goa tribe, a ruthless Zanzibari slaver and the growing interest of the German Kaiser. Amongst that turmoil, a Belgian expedition sets off to discover remains of old civilizations and whatever else might tickle their fancy.

More adventures in Gumba:

http://adventuresingumba.blogspot.de/

Although still in German, I am planing to translate the first entries soon and hopefully we can continue bilingually, so everyone can have a laugh.

The first faction has already been presented;  meet the "Expédition scientifique de Gumba" of Professor Henri van Laakdikten, archaeologist, ethnologist and historian in the service of King Leopold of Belgium. Starting from the small northern port town of Gabamba, Henri and his wife Bernadette are looking for traces of forgotten and mysterious civilizations.

More to come soon.

Lovely disparate but cohesive little group. The village looks very effective too.

Thanks fellas! By the way... just to clarify, I didn't paint these cool minis. They were painted by our buddy Ben.

A cracking little band!  :-* I'm looking forward to the Gumba narrative.

A very interesting map on your blog.
May I ask what game it came from?

Thank, Marine0846. It didn't come from a game, I designed it. It's an actual part of the African coastline that I took from a vector file I found on the net, completely changed the scale, tilted it slightly and then created all map features using free Photoshop brushes also found on the internet. If I remember correctly this is the coastline directly south of Mafia island, south of Zanzibar.

If someone has a good look at the map, then they'll realise that the scale of things doesn't really make much sense, but I think it'll do for our little game. We are still thinking how features on the map like villages should affect our campaign and eventual point gains.
