Warhammer Undead Graveyard
« on: June 07, 2012, 01:47:57 PM »
Today I was given a Warhammer Undead Graveyard - the old "biscuit foam" one. PERFECT for Empire of the Dead Games IMHO (much more suited than the modern Plastic Kit).

I had one of these ages ago, but swapped it for some Pirate miniatures - of course when Empire of the Dead came along, I regretted it. But thought "hey-ho" and got on with things.

It's a little "moth-eaten" in places, some minor damage - but I can't really complain as it was a freebie.

Such repairs are easy when you have some hobby-experience, I'm not worried about that - but does anyone know how to remove the static grass from the model?

I would try water and a toothbrush. Anything more caustic is probably going to melt the foam.

Yea, I thought "no solvents" straight away!

Detergent or no Detergent?

I would not even use dish soap. That will only really help with grease. If you're lucky the grass was glued on with white glue and the water will be enough to loosen it up. If you need to experiment find a place on the model you can cover up later with new texturing and grass.

I just want it "clean" so I can "do the do" on it (if you get me)

I have used lukewarm water for this job before with success.  Try immersing the whole thing, then skim off the floaty bits.  Gentle wipe with soft cloth for any leftover bits still attached.  Good Luck.  Look forward to seeing the finished product!

That is a cool terrain piece. I redid one for an erstwhile friend a few years ago; cleaning up took some time & was some what less than a wonderful experience, but it turned out very nicely.
I scraped the grass off carefully with a thin, snap-off box opener...a hobby knife would work as well. I found that a light soaking of Windex (ammonia based window cleaner) helped soften the glue & added in the removal. Of course, its still a pain in the lower regions.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx
