My Old West buildings (updated 9 July)

Hello everybody,

I want to share with you some of my Old West buildings I made last year. Everything is scratchbuildt, made with a foamcore structure and wooden sticks.

I put a few photos, just ask if you want detailed or WIP pictures of one of the buildings, I can't put it all right now !


We start with a corner hotel :





(stairs are not painted yet !)


Then, three little houses :









A big barn (sorry for the bad qualities photos) :









And finally the station ! (The top little roof isn't finished yet )









That's it for the moment ! I took a lot of pleasure making it, I hope you liked it

Great scratchbuilds! My favorite is the three little buildings.

Simple, effective, and nicely painted.  The first couple very evocative of Bodie, California.  Reminds me to get off my butt and work on my own large town that's well in progress but needs far too much work before posting photographs.  Just ain't enough hours in my days just now.

To make a store sign, I just design it on the computer, print it, sand it a little on the back to have a very thin paper (to clearly seethe relief of the wood behind), then glue it, and dirty it with pigment.

Here are a few photos of the mine I made last summer. My inspiration is obviously the amazing gold mine made by Admiral Benbow that you can find on this forum. The result isn't as beautiful as Admiral Benbow's one, but I'm pretty happy with it. The water is still missing (maybe one day... ). I made it for a friendly contest, the topic was "height", and it's about 52 cm high with the windmill ! Don't know if it's realistic but the idea is that the windmill is pumping water used for the mine :
