« on: June 28, 2012, 08:17:31 PM »
The start of my next project! WW2 in large scale, i will be using the Normandy firefight rules, the figures are Tamiya, with some dragon accessories, i plan on doing some Russian and US troops, on the workbench i have some more German infantry and Fallschirmjager ,the photos look a little dark and they arent that shiny either!

Very nice. I really like the concept behind Normandy Firefight, scenery could be a challenge but gaming with the lovely 1/35th vehicles will make for a stunning display. No need for tanks or heavy stuff.

If I can make one suggestion on your figures, based on many years competition modelling. Use a triangular rat tail file to file a shallow groove into the inside of the hands of those models at the lines of the main and first knuckles. Then squeeze them closed slightly before gluing the rifles in, will avoid the "open palm" look with the guns.

Looks like a great start to me :-*
How are the rules? Would you think they could be used for Weird WW2 games as well?

In Russian wargamers have special rules for the game pieces 1/35. Here is a link that can be downloaded (distributed free of charge).

Rules A. Kalinin and D. Grishin

These rules allow you to play the small collision during the Great Patriotic War. The rules are intended for game miniatures in 1/35. The authors of the rules A.Kalinin and D.Grishin.

But alas - in Russian. You can try to use the Google translator.

I once planned on doing something similar, but was disappointed by the lack of non-German soldiers in 1/35. And there's another big problem with the infamous scale-creep on the figures -the old Tamiya ones are smaller if compared with the news offerings: Dragon, Master Box, even Trumpeter.

I ended with an attic full of 1/35 boxes that I don't plan on using anymore, lol. But good luck with your project, I can't wait to see more  ;)
