Check out Viking Forge:
http://vikingforge.datasquire.net/25mm-asgard-fantasy.html

They have the old Asgard fantasy range.
Some great old-school sculpts, their Barbarians and Dwarves are my personal favourites.

I have a whole bunch of the Dwarves that I want to use as a Gnome warband for Mordheim, as they are smaller than GW Dwarves.
Beautiful sculpts, though!

Thanks DeafNala. Thanks Mason.  :D

That old Asgard line has some pretty cool sculpts.  :-*

I tried something different with my Fantasy Figs.
Normally I prime black and dry-brush white.
This time, I started with a light brown primer (grey would work as well), followed by a top down white primer, followed by a black wash.

I noticed the the base colors went on very smooth and required a lot less work. I'm really happy with the results.
I also purchased a brown and a black Pigma brand Micro Pens for drawing on pupils. It would normally take several tries to even get something passable if I just used a brush.

Really looking forward to seeing how these turn out with the brown primer, Aggro. I just got some myself so I'm happy there's someone else whose experiments I can learn from... Looks promising so far.

Those old Asgard Barbarians are some of my favourites too. Hard to resist... I think they'd take the treatment well.

I recently made the switch to brown primer too, mostly because it can be bought at the hardware store for $3! Nice saving!

All these were brown primered:

I've completed (minus the bases) two more minis and they are looking great (for me).  :D

I have been priming my figures brown for years, mainly because it works as a great base for so many different types of materials: leather, metal, flesh etc.
It cuts out a lot of the work that black or white can create.

Small update:
I've been scouring eBay and managed to pick up some Chaos Thugs, Beastmen, Cult of the Possessed and Chaos Hounds.
I'm choosing Chaos themed minis because I decided I wanted more of Michael Moorcock feel to this project, specifically the first 4 Corum books.
I managed to paint up a few more miniatures that still need basing. I have base colors down on 4 or 5 more that need highlighting and detail work. I still love my micro pens, although I have only been using them for pupils.

I'm least happy with the lich. He looks a little too clean. The wanted the ghost a little lighter overall, but she still looks pretty good!

They all look great, aggro!

Be careful: Old classic Citadel minis are addictive!
 ;)

I will see what I have laying about to add to the parcel that I am sending you (stuff arrived this morning)... ;)

Thanks Mason. I'm officially cutting myself off as of today, until I get caught up with my painting! As far as sending me something, you are too kind!

Thanks FramFramson! I'm very pleased with how the wizard turned out too!

Thanks Thantsants! I seem to remember that you acquired that mini recently as well.  :D

The new additions are VERY COOL, &, other than the Little Spook, they're minis I don't remember seeing before...of course, lately there's lots of thing I don't remember. I like the way your muted colors work together. EXCELLENT WORK!

Thanks again Thantsants.  :D
Thanks DeafNala. I can always count on you for a few inspiring words.  :D

A few more WIP's:

Looking at the photo, the mummy needs a lot of work. I'm going to work on that shield little more as well.
