Wrath of Kings
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:34:27 PM »
I don't think there's a thread for this CMON effort here yet ???

Odd, that... Anyway, what better way than to start with this choice morsel spotted at BoW:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/fantasy-wargaming/wrath-kings-blooming-preview/

Looks like a display piece more than a gaming piece tho, but be that as it may I found Brennon's (the news bit's writer) comment "that’s certainly a very stylishly posed miniature" refreshingly ironic, given what the actual photos of the model look like :P

Yes, I don't think "Stylish" is quite the correct word to apply there.  lol

A gaming buddy reminded me that the pose is actually realistic: how else is one supposed to stay on top of a whirling energy vortex?

One supposes he might have a point there, after all he's watched at least nearly as many wuxia documentaries from Hong Kong as anybody... o_o

It stands to reason that since earlier this week the game got a cheeky girl, it now gets a horny boy:

And now it's time for some busty stuff, in limited editions seems like:

Does this game even have any regular edition minis yet? :?

That vampiress annoys me. Another member of the "Let's see how ludicrously large we can make these swords!" bunch. She'd be pretty decent otherwise.

No, I think slightly pornographic is the right word.

I take this as a very positive comment :D

Is the new Gortisi covered enough for your taste?

With a feathered tricorne from the WF 'Generic WSS cavalry' plastic set she would make a great Lacepunk / Lacepulp female hero. Though the blades are ludicrously oversized (part of the GW syndrome, but at least she's spared the oversized hands and feet).

Cartoony rubbish, a worrying trend in a lot of these self contained skirmish games these days.

That's the figure I was complaining about.

There are some aspects to the Wrath of Kings line that I really enjoy. And others that just ruin it completely for me.

Hm, that's actually what came to my mind. You got it right there. Then again, maybe I'm just an old fart who doesn't get it anymore.  lol
