Question about Warhammer Magic and Arcane Magic
« on: July 09, 2012, 10:39:34 PM »
I am looking into getting these books.  Never got them when I was a kid.  So just wondering if I need the actual cards to go with the books or are there scans of each item in the book as well as the cards?  All help appreciated.  =)

The info is in the book, but not in a card form, all the spells from each Lore are on a separate page, which you could copy, I suppose.

This is GW, after all.

TBH £7 would save a lot of work....

Warhammer magic and arcane are from a older edition right? cause those cards are current edition spells, and they vary quite a bit between editions.

No, this is the current set that I flagged up. ....

IIRC, the books are black and white flimsies in a box with all the cards separate.

If you want those books to play WHFB 4th-5th, they DO HAVE all the spells and magic items completely described and explained in them (I own both, from the time I used to play GW games), and you actually don't need the cards to play, but they do life a lot easier.

Of course, you can make your own cards with the text of the book, but there are lots, and lots, and lots of cards.

Oh, and to be really complete, you need the "Chaos army box" that contained the codex, the spell cards, the chaos gifts, templates, and other chits.

The chaos spells iirc are described within the books, but not the chaos gifts.

But as has been noted, each edition of WHFB has different magic rules and spells, so be totally clear the edition you and your friends are trying to get.

Hope that helps.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Thanks for the replies.  That is what I figured, just wanted to make sure before I spent good money.  Really appreciate the help.

I've got 'em (Warhammer Magic/Arcane Magic/Chaos box). Send me a pm if you're interested...  ;)

P.S. Note that there are two different Warhammer Magics (from 4th and 5th edition, respectively). I've got 'em both.
