I Hope that title wasn't too long winded.

In a search for obscure French banners and standards of the Renaissance I have stumbled across this book which I thought could be of use;

It's free to preview in its entirety, it is illustrated (though not quite what I was looking for) and contains descriptions of devices and mottos used.

The one thing that is missing are indications of heraldic colours but better than nothing and could be useful to have.
