1/72 samurai game Age of Battles: Shogun
« on: February 18, 2008, 11:00:02 AM »
Last saturday I ordered some boxes from Zvezda with 1/72 samurai figures, they are soft plastic figures and after some nice reviews on different pages and a look in my wallet the disission was made with ease. They are simply the nicest looking 1/72 samurai and cheap in comparison with the metal minis around.
Ok so now I am anxiously awaiting my order and some questions came up:

-How do you paint soft plastic?
-does anyone else play this Age of Battles Shogun game?
-What's a nice site for it?

I hope to make a nice review in a short time so I can let you all know what it's like

Edit: Here are some nice links to the zvezda boxed sets and a nice review of the miniatures

I read somewhere, possibly here, that someone used pva glue instead of varnish. As it bends if you bend a spear/rifle etc it stops the paint from cracking and falling off. The figures look quite shiny though apparently. I haven't tried this myself, so I've no idea how effective it is.

Never heard about this method before, I have to try this one day. There is an acrylic-based matte medium produced by Vallejo. Perhaps this would prevent the shine on the miniatures by mixing it into the PVA glue?

Here is the ultimate guide for preparing and painting soft plastic miniatures - and it's a real good one!

There shouldn't be too much questions around after reading this, correct?  8)
