Kinda confirmed my suspicions as far as comparing them to the Perry's; that just means that they're "pretty good" figures as opposed to top-o-the-line Perry goodness ;D  Lovely paintjobs though, looking forward to more!  :-*

Missed this little side project for a while, Richard, and noe find as usual: great painting, even on not first class minis!

Sir Bouchant de la Moule is the first finished feudal knight...

I have also built a couple more... Thanks to Guy (Blackwolf) for kindly sending me a set of the Teutonic heads all the way from Oz. These are much better than the helms included in the Templar box, and fit my image of the sinister, faceless knight in his great helm much better...
These two will be of the military orders...  >:D

The figures don't shape up too badly if you think a bit about the poses and avoid the ludicrously outsized hand weapons.
The horses' heads on the other hand, are pretty shit. Like grinning horse skulls in a couple of cases. Way too pointy and bony. Only a few of them are really usable. I am now hybridising Perry horse heads onto Fireforge horse bodies, as in the version below...

Truthfully though, even the Fireforge horse heads don't fit brilliantly well, leaving a marked join necessitating some attention with liquid green stuff...

Sir Bouchant de la Moule is the first finished feudal knight...

With a name like that, the only tournament he's likely to get booked for is a fish market brawl where king-size cods are the only weapon allowed  :D

Fishmonger considerations aside, that's a lovely job you've done on the figure  :)

Oh very nice!!! I've never tried liquid green stuff before, I take it you swear by it for gaps?

Lovely, Richard. Real gems.

Does anyone know, with good authority, when Great Helmets (barrel helmets...) on the market and for how long they lasted? I know they were what your fashion aware personal shopper would pick out for you during the 2nd and third crusade but for how long? Basinets seem to have

I have the intention to add a helmet to my medieval wardrobe but since my costume leans towards a XV century Burgundian style I am not sure I could pull it off wearing a great hemlet.

Thanks chaps.

Peder - not too sure. Definitely 1150s - 1250s I would have said. Long out of fashion by the 1400s, that's for sure.

Andy - yes, liquid green stuff is quite good in that you can effectively paint it on and 'float' water onto the surface to try to achieve a smooth finish. And yes, quite good for filling gaps on plastic figures, although it sometimes needs a couple of applications.
