Jim's Empire of the Dead log
« on: August 02, 2012, 07:19:54 AM »
Got my copy of the rulebook a bit ago, and have been anxious to give the game a try. To help introduce the game to my clubmates, I've repurposed some older models into a couple of gangs:

First up, a group of Wulfen Jaegers. WHile not STRICTLY legal (I gave some folks hand crossbows), it should be a fin group for demo games:

The 152 point crew looks like this:
34   President, 2 heavy pistols
25   Vice President, heavy pistol, sword
14   Member, hand crossbow
14   Member, hand crossbow
17   Member, hand crossbow, axe/bludgeon
18   Member, light pistol, axe/bludgeon
20   Wolfhound
10   2 Influence for an Angry Mob

The President and the Vice President:

The Members

The Angry Mob:

I've also got some leftover models for the Wolfhound and to serve as new recruits:

The second crew is a mass of reanimated bodies. I've used the Lycaon (werewolf) rules to represent 152 points Herr Doktor Frankenstein's creations:

35   Beastlord
30   Packmaster
11   Wolfskin, Knife
11   Wolfskin, Knife
11   Wolfskin, Knife
14   Wolfskin, two-handed weapon
20   Wolf
20   Wolf

The big gent in the red pants is a Beastlord, the one in the purple suspenders is a Packmaster, the 3 Mantic zombies are Wolfskins with daggers, the Tengu zombie with the big arm is a Wolfskin with a double-handed weapon, and the Wyrd dogs are Wolves.

I'll try and get some good photos of my first games - I'll likely be trying it out on my graveyard board:

Aye - a nice selection of figures (And lovely paint jobs!) and the board looks cracking. Proxying the undead as Werewolves is a cool idea, I might have to steal it :)

That bold, bright paint is very striking, JMGraham, and it quite transforms some of those figures.  The witch-hunter in vermillion is a particularly welcome change from the usual blacks and gloomy colours.

Nice work!
I love your painting style, very quirky and original (to me, anyway).
 :-*

That graveyard looks great, too.
Watching with interest.

Thanks for the kind words, all! The Wulfen Jaeger models are re-purposed from my Warhammer Empire army (with laser-etched MDF base rings to slot their regular 20mm square bases into), and the Frankenstein's Creations crew is a mix of models that I generally use for Malifaux. I'm looking forward to putting together a purpose-built group once I get some experience with the game under my belt.

Yes, that is quite a unique style, where did you learn it from or was it an experiment?  :o
