far too expensive, I thought the idea was that plastic was meant to be cheap.

Also, crap poses, 10 kneeling figures out of 20 ;D

Who wants a platoon of figures when half of them are kneeling down?
Commission Painting undertaken, PM or email me.

Your review pics make it appear that the panel seams are raised on the helmets?  Is that correct?

Allen
What fresh hell is this?

I have a couple of sprues of these and can confirm this to be the case, Mr. Curtis.

Is there only one glengarry head on the sprue? I'm looking around for British colonial figures that can stand in for 1885 Canadian militia, who seem to have preferred glens.

Of course, these will have Martini Henrys rather than Sniders, so still not what I need even if the correct headgear can be provided!

Yes, four foreign service helmets, one glengarry and one wide-brimmed hat to a sprue.

The Empress metal head sets are a better bet if you want a bunch of glengarries. Eight heads to a set, four of which you won't have to throw away.

Nice but i have too many British troops from this era to paint as Spanish VSF already.  Now if someone made affordable plastic 1800s - 1900s Spanish Colonials figures (in my dreams,) in size not too different from Ral Partha figures I'd be forced to get more "giant figures"

Gracias,

Glenn

Someone care to spill the beans about the significance of the raised panel seams?

The panel seams on the (British ZW) pith helmet, were only slightly raised. Other nations (such as Germans or Italians) had helmets which had a more prominant raised seam.

It seems to be a 'mistake' by some makers (including BTD - my chosen figures) but to be honest once painted and washed over they look fine.

I once got into debate with someone about the number of panels on a pith helmet.....but thats another (rather sad) story

As Notts Gamer shows, it's what's accurate.  Not as easy to paint as inscribed lines, but it's how they should be.  So thanks, all.

Allen

The only trouble is, raised seams when sculpted on helmets are often made way too big, totally ruining the look. The 'incorrect' method of the inscribed line, coupled with a highlight to create the illusion of a small elevation usually looks better.

These ones look just about okay to me, though. If I ever get round to painting them I shall use them as they are without grumbling, I expect.
