I found the few games I've played so far were all good fun. I think you made a good call with 28mm  for the gladiators though. I wasn't all that impressed with the actual Jugula figures

Jugula is a very good game indeed. It's not a great simulation of gladiatorial combat, but I have to say most good simulations of such combat don't make for very good games, so maybe that is no bad thing.

We had our first game of Jugula last night. It was good fun and, whilst not a gladiator 'simulation', it is a decent arena combat game with a fairly convincing gladiator skin.

Added some Sagittarii and Velites since Jugula has cards for them.
