Pyramid Head for Mansion of Madness
« on: August 21, 2012, 12:27:09 AM »
I`ve bought a Mansion of Madness game box and there´s a miniature of a "maniac" in the game (nothing special, just a dude with an axe). I´ve imagined if Silent Hill (a game that I truly love) could be merged with Cthulhu Mythos and I came with the ideia of swap the "maniac" fig with a Pyramid head miniature. As I´ve never seen any miniature of the SH nemesis and I´m just starting miniature sculpting I tried to sculpt one. That was like my 4th sculpt and I was still using sculpey firm while practicing with green stuff (the GS is kind of difficult to use at the beginning but I´ve learned to be confort with green stuff).

6 monts later I´ve finaled sanded de fig and painted but I still don´t have a proper base for it. Probably I´ll make one with hardboard and fimo. Still need some highlights and some good basing (and better pictures, I had to use the Iphone and the fig seem crappier than it is in real life ;) ).

Why does the character have a pyramid head/helmet/mask?  :)

Why does the character have a pyramid head/helmet/mask?  :)

Quoting silent hill wikia  :

"Masahiro Ito, the monster designer of Silent Hill 2, was looking for a monster with a hidden face to make it less human and more disturbing. His first idea was a monster with a mask, but he realized that it was nothing more than a human wearing a mask. He then took the concept further, giving the monster a head in the shape of a triangle with sharp right angles and acute edges that suggest the possibility of pain."

His design was this

But my inspiration was from the Silent Hill movie

Good job on that! The dismembered torso he's holding works well. The sword looks big but is faithful to the concept :)

Thanks blackstone. I forgot to say that this mini is 30mm top of the pyramid head. Very small piece.

I gave up on waiting the miniature bases ordered at FRPGAMES thanks to the damn strike on Brazillian customs. I made one base from plumber putty. Since I had to dedicate more time at this project I tried the gore technique with UHU glue that I found somewhere on the net. Problem is that I couldn´t find UHU glue in Brazil and I´m very tired at importing everything for my hobby so I tried every kind of glue I could find here. A couple of days ago I used some polyestirene glue and EUREKA! Good results IMHO!
