Mogadishu - Figures?
« on: September 06, 2012, 06:17:44 PM »
I've started plotting with a chum for next year's Legion and it looks like we'll do Mogadishu in 28mm. The TAG stuff will be there, but wondering about other makers. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I used Britannia figures when I did my Blackhawk Down game. They are a bit cartoony but paint up nicely with plenty of character

Matakishi recommends them too so we'll have a look. Thankfully Matakishis site shows them in more detail than the pictureless Britannia site.

We're up to TAG, Grippers and Britannia now... any more?

Devil Dog design did a range of 28mm Heroic Black Hawk down Rangers, Delta force and Somalis.

But nowhere near the right uniform or equipment for Mogadishu sadly.

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

Nah they're Marines... got to let the sailors have someone to dance with.  :P

Has anyone got a comparison photo of TAG and Britannia figures?

The Britannia Americans are big but the Somalis are a better fit with TAG if you wanted to mix.

I've got a mix of TAG, MoFo and Britannia Somalis. They're OK by me side-by-side. Also got some Chiltern ones as well, but they're HUUUUGE!
Tutenes, Atque Cujus Exercitus?

Much appreciated. Of course I have a President already but I painted him as a "My Duce", not a great PJ but really like it esp. the chest of medals: http://6milphil.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/the-great-dictator/

I like the TAG Africans- they are the best sculpted, with some nice details and character. Britannia are OK but tend to have giant bulbous heads and weird hands and feet. Their vehicals, however, are very good- I use their 'Technicals'

These fellows are by The Assault Group

While this Technical is by Britannia

As previously stated the Chilton ones are over sized. I haven't seen any by MoFo, but they don't look as well sculpted as TAG.
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/
