Suitable Russian Walker Names
« on: March 04, 2008, 04:23:46 PM »
I'm looking for suitable names for my Russian Walkers.
I know the tanks were prefixed with a "T" but I was thinking in terms of an actual name for the walkers.
Just scanned through the net and came up with a few possibles:

Heavy Walker: "Svyatogor" ( A giant from Russian Folklore)
Medium Walker: "Bagotyr" ( Russian Knight/Hero)
Armoured Battle Suit: "Medved" ( Bear)

What do you think?

Didn't Stalin mean Metal Man or something like that?  Maybe they can be called a Stalin in honor of their leader and his name.

Bogatyr, not Bagotyr :)

but the choice is good

some suggestions:

Muromez (Муромец) (the name of the greatest russian fairytale hero)
Waryag (Варяг)(the name of a heroic battleship sunken by Japanese in the Russian-Japan war of 1905)
Moguchiy (Могучий) (mighty one)
Vityaz (Витязь) (another name of  knight/hero)

May be due to the fact that I watched the movie last week, but what about

"Alexander Nevsky" (popular icon during the war years)

It´s great indeed, only marred by the terrible audio track on most DVD versions. I´d love to get a new one with a properly-orchestrated and -recorded soundtrack.

Thanks!
Some excellent suggestions there!
Reading up a little on Alexander Nevsky I think the designation AN1 for my Heavy Walker would be spot on!
I also really like Moguchiy... something to strike fear into the enemy!

Tamerlaine, I think it's spelt? He was quite the dictator I believe.
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

Thanks,
Tamerlaine is another cool name, but I believe he was a Mongol Warlord with a bit of a cruel streak!

Still a good name, I may well ear-mark that one for another project ( a pirate raiding vessel).

Cheers
