Having recently watched the boxset in a single sitting again I thought it's time to get this going so spent an hour or two collecting all the bits together for this. Emailing the production designer came to nowt, so I'm now trawling through screen caps...  one and a half thousand per episode :o

Five Humvees - Check!

Five Eureka Crews - oh, now sures there's five crews but only three figs to a pack so probably need a couple more

Those Crews dismounted, whoops only 20 figs when I need 24, back to Fighting 15's then.

A couple of Mark19 Grenade Launchers, and a fifty cal from Imprint, although the crews do come with thirty cals I need a few beefier heavy weapons.

There's a few pieces I'm lacking and maybe someone can point me in the right direction... I need

A head in a motorcycle helmet like this:

A reporter proxy, both standing and sitting, although I could hack a standing figure...

Possibly a translator, an Arab civvy in dodgy uniform carrying a shotgun.

Looking good.

Re. the helmet, I think you'll need to add greenstuff to the Eureka ones:

But Google suggested this thread:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=45145.0

For the reporter there's a few options (converting some of the Eureka US infantry), there's a thread (which I can't find) on here with options.

For the translator, maybe the Eureka Afghan:

(Again with conversion.)

Thanks mate. Problem with modding eureka figures is they're typically sets and I want ones, but it a good suggestion regardless.

Anyway isn't it a criminal offence to modify Eureka miniatures?

:/ I have the luxury of buying bits direct from Nic and the gang; I just chopped up a miniature last night to make a Krampus.

The Aussie dollar is currently taking a hard pounding, maybe ordering direct will offset shipping costs?

If you can wait, Nic usually attends some of the bigger British wargames shows each year.

Nic is at Salute this year sharing a stall with Ian of F15's. On one hand I'm on a roll on the other I started collecting for this in 2012 so how much of a rush could I honestly claim to be in?  ::)

Started prepping the figures while I wait for the extras to turn up, the most awkward bit being adding the NVG goggles.

Now there's four or five figures per humvee, and five humvees so plenty of chance of mixing up the figures once deployed, so I've numbered the bases in the subtlest way I can, the number of rocks per base is the vehicle they're from.

Of course the eagle-eyed will have spotted no number three, but two fours, so not sure how well this might work.

Having hacked about one humvve I'm now having a wobble about them being too big...

Good point, I have stabilised on the scale and just tucked in.

Started hacking the vehicles into their very basic forms, with standard mil. vehicles there's a wealth of photo's and a walkaround is never far away for a lot of them, but not so for GK. It's taken ages to work out the basic forms and weaponry, and I'll have to go back to work out all the dressing too. There's far too many thread on various forums about modelling these with the images long deleted...

V-01 This is Iceman and Person's Humvee and the most complete compared to the diecast models

V-02

V-03

V-04 Command vehicle, this is the one with the canvas back and the only one which is green, although the canvas is sandy.

V-05 The hardest one to tie down as it's typically at the back of the convoy, it's a slightly different model to the others - most of the detail is sharper, except on the bonnet vents. It's the Maxi Car one, whereas all the others are from Deagostini part-works.

Next will be adding the bits to complete the basic structures, something to do while I wait for more Eureka figures via Fighting 15's & Helmets and accessories from TAG to turn up.

Looking good. I think size-wise they look fine.

(For futher down the road) terrain wise there's some easy options with those "X" power poles in one of the early episodes and burnt out buses, etc.

The hacking ceases - on to adding basic bits and bobs. I'm removing the tyres for safety, I've no spares so any accidents with scalpel or drill would be fatal.

Sealing the door and putting more bed into V-05, it'll be covered with stowage so doesn't need to be textured

Putting in the headache, bed and sealing the doors on V-04

It has to allow for the removal of the cab.

Adding struts to V-03

Next wooden slatting on V-04 & V-05.

Nice progress, the effort I think will be greatly rewarded.
