Lovely stuff!

I've been thinking about watching some Dad's Army again- like others here it's a series that I grew up with.

Watched this film today- 'Went the Day Well?'
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035429/
while we're on a home guard theme. From 1942, a really good film and quite fascinating as a historical piece, too.

I am slowly building up my Foundry Home Guard (finances are the issue with 4 munchkins!) and various Fallschirmjager - my eventual idea is an idealised Operation Sealion interupted by the Daleks (thankyou Marks and Spencers)  ;D

Progress has been very slow as I have been doing lots of overtime lately but have managed to do this little lot.
Had some nice winter sun at lunchtime so managed to get some better photos.

Bikes , two packets of Foundry HG bikes.

18pdr , from Foundry.

Boy Scouts , converted from BattleHonors Gurkhas.

My Father served in the local Home Guard before he joined the Royal Navy in 1943. Some of the stories he told me were somewhat horrifying - boxes of broken glass hidden by the side of the road to throw under tank tracks, even a pitchfork tied to the front of his bike so he could ride into squads of paratroops !!!

I love British puck as much as the next guy, but I think that's taking optimism just a bit too far....thank god it (the invasion) never happened.
Enjoying the game is ALWAYS more important than winning the game.

Those Scouts are great.  :)

We never had a Bren when I was in the scouts.

Rifles, Yes.

Machine Guns, No.

Hi all , thanks .
I bought the Gurkhas off Will Baillie but had no idea of what to do with them until I started the Dads Army project. I converted a Tommy Gun to a Bren , modified the hats and greenstuffed the scarfes . The figures are noticably smaller so fit well with the rest of the Army.
Not sure how I will use them other than normal troops but may have to come up with some special rules with names like ; Bob a job , Gingangoolie etc.

I have started the German Paras but am finding the molds really badly worn and they need lots of cleaning up. :-[

Its been awhile since I posted anything here . I have done two sections of Foundry German Paras which have come out quite dark so will work on my lighting before posting any photos . I have also painted three Vickers tanks which I will post later .
I had to give some Regiment games British Landing Party figures to a friend to paint as I'm running out of time . I wont be able to do my Commandos either. :(

The Demo is less than a month away so its panic time. :o

I threw together some things which I had at home as a preview .

That looks fantastic, Dan.  I visions of a reverse Dieppe-style raid going through my head now, as the Germans storm the English shore line to purchase lollies and ice cream and line up for donkey rides!  Sorry I won't be there to see the game.  And love what you've done with the Gurkhas - haven't seen a Boy Scout Troop with a Bren gun before.  Hope they all get their marksmanship merit badges!

Cheers

Hi Will , I have ideas of Deckchairs or sunloungers as objectives  :) I'm just trying to make some molds of a Deckchair I scratchbuilt.
