Bazaar of Obscurities FAQ's
« on: October 01, 2012, 10:34:47 AM »
If you have any questions about Bazaar rules, don't hesitate to ask. This is the only thread for it, please don't start any topics with questions/suggestions on the child boards.

I think this is a very good change.

I would suggest FS: FT: and FS/FT: as starter text for the titles though. Having (SALE)(TRADE) at the beginning of every thread line is visually too dominant and will be confusing as more entries are made.

I agree that this is a good set of changes (and an opportunity to slip that missing "a" into the name!).  Thanks, Prof - it's a sensible way of address the disquiet surrounding the board.

Just one thing, though.  Before clicking "Show unread posts since last visit", I used to go to the Bazaar first, and click "Mark Read", so that the "unread" listing wasn't swamped with Bazaar posts.  So far as I can tell, there is no "Mark Read" link for the Bazaar as a whole, now, but separate ones for each child board.  Is there any way around having to go into each child board and mark it as read every time?

It's more about making it quite noticable in the "Show unread posts since last visit" list. So we will let it run that way first. Later we still can change/optimize something.

I don't think so. But I will check it.

Maybe not the place for this, but I do welcome this change fully, and the new rules are great!
Thanks prof for making this an even better place to spend my so-called working hours on :)

I can only echo the above posts and welcome the changes, especially concerning the ebay listings.
A job well done, I think.

Nice changes, makes lots of sense :)

Which 'board', do you think, would be the best for offers/voucher etc (like the Maelstrom or Foundry ones)?

Actually no one of these new boards is appropriate for this sort of posts. They are only for private trades. Still have to think about a Commercial Child Board. For the time being try to post it to the suitable theme boards or Open Talk.

I do hope "New Releases" type posts don't get moved to a Bazaar child board. If North Star (or whoever) want to post about their new tribesmen figures, I'd like it to be on the Colonial Adventures Board. I don't think the colonial fans would be well-served by having to hunt down such stuff on another board.

No worries, Dylan. If at all, it would be only for the news like "Whatever-Games gives discount of 50% on everything this week". But not sure if we really need it. We will see.

Actually seeing it now I withdraw my suggestion. As most thread titles are running into 2 or more lines it is not as distracting as I expected. Changing it is not necessary.

I like the changes.

Would it make sense to have a separate board for people posting greens for sale?
