GW skellies released tomorow
« on: March 07, 2008, 01:40:24 PM »
For anyone that hasn't seen the new plastic skeleton box, they are beautiful mouldings, very well sculpted with very fine bone detail & are more compatible with the usual 28mm figures than GW normally are. They have also lost the silly "skulls on everything" heraldry and although there still are some, the shields etc are plain & the rest can be easily dealt with. Their armourhas also been sculpted to purposely look more archaic than the usual "Warhammer" look. The spears are a bit "heroic", but again can be easily remedied with the usual methods.

This gives them much more scope to be used for other games requring skellies than the old set. I'm thinking they will be perfect for Conan-type S&S games, but also for VSF, Horror etc etc.

£12.00 for 10 isn't too bad, by GW standards, so i will be getting a few boxes  :)

Well I hope they include skulls for the skeletons themselves, at least....
 :D
Ok, sorry guys, couldn't resist.

I was less keen on the 40GBP price on the cavalry box ....

Interesting!

The ones I saw made up in the local GW mostly had helmetless skulls & all armed with spears.

The helmets actually remind me of Frazetta artwork, so are even more attractive for Conan games :D

Annoyingly I already have a box of the boring old skeletons, but I just have to buy these new ones. They are indeed very perfect for S&S.

Its curious to see more people thinking in this  :)  I also had this idea when I saw them in their website. The new ghouls are also great for Sword and Sorcery scenarios...

ASH bristles in fear.

Okay.   The words.  Say the words.
KLATOO!... VERATA...  uh...  Uh...
Necta... uh... Nectar... Necktie... uh...

He hesitates, then calls out boldly.

KLATOO... VERATA...
NECT*cough**cough*...

He deliberately muffles the last word that he can't remember. The wind stops.  It seems to have worked.  He looks about with growing confidence.

Okay then.

But he loses his smile as... a LOW RUMBLE is heard. A tiny figure among the gravestones which tremble and one by one are thrust from the earth.

Hey, wait a minute. Everything's cool!  I said the words!  I did!

They seem to be useful for other games as well.
TANK POLO? God, how our gardener hated that game!

I need something Egyptian themed, but I might mix parts between this kit and their tomb kings line and see what I can come up with.
