Great stuff - did you paint the rocks on the gnoll bases or just leave them the natural colour (I always end up painting mine as they tend to get splattered with paint from the rest of the mini)?

Also I hope that little halfling didn't hang around after than photo was taken...
I left them natural. I usually paint them but decided not to just to make things quicker. Added after painting so paint splatter not an issue.

Thanks for the comments.

I have the same trio of ogres but have only painted up 2 up to now.  Got them in a Bones kickstarter.  The mold lines were tough to deal with and I never did take care if them.

May I ask what model the Mouthy Halfling is?  The expression  you've put on his face makes me want to hunt one down and hide him somewhere in every picture I take.

Great updates! I'm starting a gnoll project...for essentially the same reasons...and with the same figures...and using contrast paint...  lol
That being said, may I humbly beg to ask your recipe for skin and fur? The main reason I haven't started yet is I'm not sure what colour to paint said skin and fur, so I'd be grateful if you don't mind me nicking your idea  :)

Sorry, I missed the reply. I think the Skin is just darkoath flesh (contrast) over a matt white spray. The fur is just either wildwood (contrast) or snakebite leather (contrast) for the gnolls.

Here is a Skeleton Ogre I designed and 3d printed. Came out better than I thought on an FDM printer. I may try a variant or 2.

Looks great! The relatively tiny skull is spot on - really gives a sense of what a hulking brute it was in life.

Cheers :)  The print didn't come out perfectly. It has some small tusks on the head too.

I'm just dabbling with 3d printing just now and to say you created that file yourself, is impressive! :o

Thanks :)
I started off with a human skeleton I created from some images. Then all I had to do was scale it a bit in the x and y axis and do a little sculpting on the skull to make it less human-like. Then it was a matter of posing. I think I might do another one tonight (I should be working on my next kickstarter but sometimes the muse strikes, lol )

No worries, thanks for replying! That's more straightforward than I thought... Now where did I leave my gnolls...

Great ogre, I like the hunched posture in particular.

Great ogre!  did you do any sanding or use any type of filler primer on it?

The angle of the first picture makes it look like it has giant Yoda ears (actually..the collar bones) which is awesome too haha

No sanding , just paint straight on top after cleaning away the supports. I reposed it a couple of nights ago and have a second print on my paint desk, this time holding a wooden log. I see the Yoda ears, lol

Well Looks like it is time for a yearly update.
All older grenadier minis I believe (not sure about the bugbears)
Mostly painted withcontrast paints except for some smaller bits and armor.

Great stuff! Yes, those are Grenadier bugbears (there were two sets of three). Nice work on them: they're great figures.

Contrast paints are very handy for dealing with all the subtle detail on Grenadier figures (especially the John Dennett ones). The flow of the contrast paints is much better suited to it than conventional washes, somehow.
