These are all lovely and I enjoyed reading the back stories - are you going to be putting together some kind of ongoing campaign with these characters?

I always find detailed backgrounds like you've created really helps with the narrative thread of the games you play with them.

The Lasses & Lad about Town all painted up to your high standards. The background stories & scenery really bring the minis to life, each with their own personality &, in Stefan's case, dark secrets. VERY WELL DONE!

@ DeafNala and Za Zjurman:

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

@ Thantsants:

At this point, the background and narrative seek only to place the miniatures in their proper context. It helps me in the painting process.

Nonetheless, it would be pleasant to know that the intricate story lines that I have tried to weave for the characters I have imagined thus far have made them both interesting and inspiring.

Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World!

Here is another citizen of Bruegelburg...

Bertha Biermann is the third daughter of Gerhard Bierman and like her sisters, she also works for her father at the Three Arrows Tavern.

Big Bertha as she is fondly called by the patrons of the Three Arrows is a big woman with an even bigger heart. Of all the Biermann sisters, Bertha is the most compassionate and kind-hearted. She is prone to giving beggars and orphans free food and she volunteers at the local hospice of Shallya in Bruegelburg which is actually converted from a warehouse owned by the family of Baron Adelhart Wilhelm-Mountbatten.

This hospice, locally known as the Merciful Heart of Shallya is a nondescript stone and wood building recognizable by the typical white dove painted above the doorway. Inside, the space is partitioned by thin wooden walls that divide the building into different wards. The high walls and partitions are covered with donated tapestries and blankets that help muffle the cries and moans of the injured and sick.

The atmosphere is constantly marked by a sweet-smelling incense that burns at all times in order to mask the odors of disease and death.

Bertha is often seen working in the daytime tending to the Hospice's patients, providing food (taken from the Tavern, no doubt!), trying to keep the building fresh, sanitary and clean and making the lives of the sick and dying more tolerable with her laughter and good humor.

Gerhard fears for her daughter though because of the possibility that she might contract some communicable and contagious disease...

Here is another citizen of Bruegelburg...

Helga Biermann is the fourth daughter of Gerhard Biermann.

Helga is a red-haired woman with a fiery temper to match. She presently works as a cook and baker for the Three Arrows Tavern and is renowned in Bruegelburg for her tasty Middenheim meatpies.

Incidentally. thanks to Helga, the Three Arrows Tavern likewise boasts of being the cleanest Tavern in all of Bruegelburg due to the noticeable absence of rats in the premises. ;)

Suspicious food ingredients notwithstanding, Helga takes pride in her work and she takes her work seriously. She is a perfectionist, especially where her craft is concerned and she is quick to pick an argument to anyone who may find her food less than desirable. This "short-fuse" lady has, on several occasions, single-handedly harangued and accosted much-larger patrons armed only with her trusty rolling pin and thrown them out of the Three Arrows Tavern just because they made a comment concerning their food that she did not like or approve of.

Helga is a fearless, tough as nails citizen of Bruegelburg and is often seen by Gerhard as the son he never had.

Thank you aggro84!

I am a huge fan as well. Your work in "Aggro 84's fantasy themed thread" is both top-notch and inspiring. In fact, it is one of the reasons why I decided to stop being a lurker and start my own fantasy-themed thread.  :)

Here is another citizen of Bruegelburg...

Olga Biermann Bachmeier is the fifth daughter of Gerhard Biermann and she is the only daughter of Gerhard who is married.

Olga Biermann Bachmeier was once Olga Biermann Ementrud after she married Josef Ermentrud, a Scout in the service of Boris Todbringer of Middenheim.

This union produced two boys, the twins Karl and Helmut.

During the early phase of what would later be known as "The Storm of Chaos', Josef was sent to the Darkwald Forest to investigate the disappearance of an outpost within the forest.

Josef was never seen again and was presumed dead.

Understandably, when Gerhard Biermann left Middenheim and moved to Bruegelburg, Olga went with her father and brought the twins with her where she now works for her father while taking care of her children. She has since then moved on and has in fact married someone else... a certain farmer named Dietrich Bachmeier.

This union has produced another boy whom Olga has named Josef, in memory of her former husband.

What Olga does not know however was that Josef did not die in the Darkwald Forest. He was simply captured by marauding Norsemen and was taken in as a prisoner. Josef was tortured and was eventually sold as a slave.

Josef however was eventually able to escape his captors and masters and has since then wandered the Old World in search for his family.

He was last seen wandering the forests near Bruegelburg...

Here in another citizen of Bruegelburg...

Sofia Biermann is the youngest of the Biermann sisters and the favorite of Gerhard.

She is too young to work at the Tavern so she helps out by taking care of the children of Olga, her older sister. Even at a young age, Sofia has proven herself to be very responsible and very protective of her nephews, Karl, Helmut and Josef.

Sofia also is a very special child for she has a "talent" that no one else has and for that matter, no one else should know...Sofia apparently can communicate with animals.

She first exhibited her talents as they were leaving Middenheim. En route to Bruegelburg and while her father was unconscious from the arrow wounds he sustained during their escape, they were attacked by a pack of wolves. Seeing that her father could not protect them and realizing the helplessness of her sisters, Sofia spoke to the wolf pack and convinced the Alpha male to escort them rather than attack them.

Accordingly, Gerhard has gone to great lengths to prevent Bruegelburg's Witch Hunters from knowing this and that is why Sofia lives with her sister Olga, who is presently married to Farmer Dietrich and who lives at the outskirts of Bruegelburg.

@ Mason:

Thanks a lot for the comments.
The blue color is a visual allusion to their roots...a homage to Middenheim so to speak. ;)
